Hospice Support at Home
When care shifts from treatment to comfort, what a family needs changes with it. Our role in this stage is a supporting one — practical, steady, and organised around your loved one being comfortable and your family being present.
Alongside your hospice team, not instead of it
Hospice agencies provide the clinical care: symptom and pain management, nursing visits, medical equipment, and guidance from clinicians. They are typically not in the home continuously.
We fill the hours in between. Our caregivers are not a substitute for hospice nurses and do not provide medical care; we handle the daily comfort and personal care, and we follow the plan the hospice team has set.
What we take on
- Gentle personal care — bathing, grooming, mouth care, and clean, comfortable bedding
- Careful repositioning for comfort and skin protection
- Help with eating and drinking for as long as they are wanted
- A calm, quiet room: light, temperature, and familiar music or voices
- Simply being present, so no one is alone when the family cannot be there
- Meals, laundry, and household basics so the family can be family
Support for everyone in the house
The people around the bed are exhausted too, and often will not say so. Overnight cover so a spouse can sleep, a few hours so an adult child can go home and shower, someone to answer the door and take the phone — these are small things that matter enormously in a hard week.
How to reach us
Timing in this stage is rarely predictable, and we will move as quickly as we can. Call us and we will talk plainly about what we can put in place and how soon, without pressure.
